Shipping software Australia: multi-carrier rates for Shopify stores

TL;DR

Shipping software for Australian Shopify stores shouldn't mean locking into one courier. Pack's differentiator is Pack Network (Aramex and Couriers Please), Pack Freight (a network of Australia's bulky freight providers), and Pack Priority (Aramex Priority) negotiated rates — then prints labels and quotes at checkout. For Australia Post, connect your own MyPost Business account and use your own MyPost rates (not Pack's negotiated rates). Free Forever includes the full product up to 100 bookings per Shopify billing cycle; Starter is $49/mo when you need volume. An AU-native shipping app, not a worldwide SaaS pitch.

What happened to Sendle — and why single-carrier risk matters

If you were relying on Sendle for Australian Shopify shipping, January 2026 was a rude awakening. AU bookings went offline. Merchants scrambled. Shopify Help now says to remove Sendle rates and connect MyPost Business or use other carriers.

The lesson isn't "Sendle was bad" — it's that single-carrier dependency is a risk. When your checkout, fulfilment, and customer promise all hinge on one courier's uptime, one carrier's capacity, one carrier's pricing decisions, you're exposed.

Australia Post's eCommerce Industry Report backs this up: merchants are increasingly diversifying carrier relationships. Not because AusPost is broken, but because resilience matters.

McKenna brand relaunch note (Sep 2026): McKenna Worldwide acquired the Sendle brand (not the old company or debts) with a September 2026 relaunch target. Pricing and coverage weren't confirmed at our research date — verify live status before assuming Sendle is back. See our full Sendle replacement landscape.

What "shipping software Australia" should actually do

Before comparing apps, clarify what category-head "shipping software Australia" should solve for a Shopify store:

Compare live AU carrier rates at quote time — not a logo menu of carriers you don't have. Pack Network / Freight / Priority negotiated rates are the Pack edge here.
Surface accurate checkout prices — Product AI dimension estimation plus a live residential vs commercial address checker help get the quote right before the customer pays.
Print labels without juggling five portals — one dashboard, all carriers.
Connect your own Australia Post MyPost Business account for AusPost and use your own MyPost rates (not Pack's negotiated rates).
Route bulky/freight when parcel networks stop being the right tool — when weight or dimensions push you past satchel territory, Pack Freight (bulky freight network) keeps rates honest instead of forcing you into a parcel shape.

Live carriers truth box

Live Pack carrier rates (Australia):

Pack Network — Aramex and Couriers Please (Pack negotiated rates — differentiator)

Pack Freight — a network of Australia's bulky freight providers (Pack negotiated rates — differentiator)

Pack Priority — Aramex Priority only (Pack negotiated rates — differentiator)

Australia Post — connect your own MyPost Business account and use your own MyPost rates (not Pack's negotiated rates)

Pack rates and books through Pack Network (Aramex and Couriers Please), Pack Freight (a network of Australia's bulky freight providers) and Pack Priority (Aramex Priority). For Australia Post, connect your own MyPost Business account and use your own MyPost rates (not Pack's negotiated rates). Sendle, FedEx, DHL, and StarTrack are not live Pack rates.

Pack Network uses partner carriers Aramex and Couriers Please. Pack Freight is connected to a network of Australia's bulky freight providers. Pack Priority is Aramex Priority only. For AusPost, connect your own MyPost Business account and use your own MyPost rates (not Pack's negotiated rates). Pack does not replace Australia Post.

What a managed network actually solves

The multi-carrier promise isn't "we have logos." It's that when you click Get Rates, you see actual quotes from carriers Pack has negotiated access to — and you pick based on price, speed, or resilience preference.

Pack Network (Aramex and Couriers Please) covers standard parcel lanes. When Aramex is faster to a regional zone, take it. You're not locked in — you're choosing per-order.

Pack Freight (bulky freight network) kicks in when dims/weight make parcel networks the wrong tool. Trying to squeeze a pallet into a satchel rate wastes money and trust.

Pack Priority (Aramex Priority only) is for when the order needs a priority Aramex product, not the standard Pack Network shop.

MyPost Business (AusPost) stays connected for the orders where Australia Post is the right answer. Multi-carrier is a mix, not a divorce from AusPost.

How this compares to picking carriers yourself

You could DIY multi-carrier:

Open an AusPost MyPost portal tab
Open an Aramex portal tab
Open a TNT portal tab
Quote each manually
Copy the address four times
Compare rates in a spreadsheet
Book the best live rate for that lane
Print label
Repeat for 50 orders

That's how a lot of stores operated before shipping software matured. It works — until it doesn't scale, or you miss a better rate, or you forget which portal had the booking, or month-end reconciliation takes a day.

Pack's pitch: one Get Rates click, all live rates, sorted by price or speed, book in seconds. For AusPost, you're still using your MyPost Business account — we just surface those rates alongside Pack Network / Freight / Priority so you can compare without the tab dance.

Why resilience is becoming a selling point

AusPost's eCommerce Industry Report and courier industry commentary keep returning to the same theme: AU merchants are diversifying away from single-carrier dependency. Not because one courier is evil — because any single point of failure is a business risk.

Sendle's January 2026 offline period proved the point in real time. Stores with multi-carrier fallback adapted. Stores locked to Sendle-only had to scramble for a plan B mid-crisis.

Pack's resilience angle isn't "we're the only multi-carrier option." Shippit, Starshipit, and others offer multi-carrier too. Pack's angle is that Pack Network / Freight / Priority are the negotiated pools where Pack adds value. For Australia Post, you connect your own MyPost Business account and use your own MyPost rates (not Pack's negotiated rates).

FAQ

Which carriers does Pack support?

Pack rates and books through Pack Network (partner carriers Aramex and Couriers Please), Pack Freight (connected to a network of Australia's bulky freight providers) and Pack Priority (Aramex Priority). For Australia Post, connect your own MyPost Business account and use your own MyPost rates (not Pack's negotiated rates). Sendle, FedEx, DHL, and StarTrack are not live Pack rates.

Does Pack work with Australia Post / MyPost Business?

Yes. For AusPost booking, labels, and tracking, connect your own MyPost Business account and use your own MyPost rates (not Pack's negotiated rates), then compare those rates next to Pack's differentiator — Pack Network (Aramex and Couriers Please), Pack Freight (bulky freight network), and Pack Priority (Aramex Priority) negotiated rates. Pack does not replace Australia Post and does not claim BYO MyPost as a Pack-only advantage.

What does Pack pricing cost?

Free Forever is the full product (all features including Product AI) up to 100 bookings per Shopify billing cycle (multi-parcel = 1). Starter is $49/month when you need more volume — same features, just unlocks the cap. Enterprise is $3,990/year for retail fulfilment (NearShip), priority SLA, white-label, and 3PL capabilities. API keys are issued by Pack on request (support@packtothefuture.co) and aren't limited to Enterprise. Platform fee is $0.75 AUD per booking in addition to carrier postage. See /pricing.

What is the residential vs commercial checker?

Pack surfaces a live residential vs commercial address checker at cart (theme blocks in any Shopify theme). When an address is confidently residential or commercial, the checker flags it automatically so checkout rates and surcharge expectations are honest before the customer pays. For ambiguous addresses, Pack uses AI likelihood scoring plus a customer-confirm fallback if needed. Forklift vs tailgate routing paths are supported for freight. The call typically resolves under 100ms. Pack does not publish an accuracy percentage — behaviours only.

Is Pack a Shippit or Starshipit alternative?

Pack to the Future is an Australian Shopify shipping app competing in the same category as Shippit, Starshipit, and other multi-carrier platforms. Pack's lead wedge is Product AI plus a growing SKU database for accurate bulky/cubic/pallet rates, and a lower SMB entry price (Free Forever → Starter $49 vs $499+ floors elsewhere). Pack does not claim to be a full TMS replacement for enterprise orchestration — that's Shippit's lane. For a head-to-head, see Shippit vs Pack and Starshipit vs Pack.
