Fumagalli has great hands and runs good routes. He, like most other Wisconsin tight ends, is a solid and willing blocker in the run game. He was the safety valve for the Wisconsin passing offense and was there when the Badgers needed a first down. He is very similar to Richard Rodgers in this right as receiver, but he is a much better blocker than Rodgers, and has a higher ceiling.
Fumagalli has a lack of separation issue that unfortunately means he’ll be limited to a red zone and possession tight end. Fumagalli has been recovering from a hip injury and only participated in the bench press at the combine. He will be valued as a solid number three tight end at the next level.
How He Fits
Fumagalli is a better blocking Richard Rodgers. Green Bay should draft a tight end before Fumagalli and he could be a good candidate as a red zone tight end and situational blocker. His nine fingers will not be an issue but his lack of separation and hip issue will be. he should be around in the fifth round.
