Welcome to Working the Wire for Week 10 of the 2018 season! We’ll list off the best adds for your waiver period to bolster your fantasy squad, or replace your injured players! Week 10 has a varied list for a bunch of positions, and as always, a couple notes:
– Players will not be listed that have over 50% of ownership in ESPN leagues.
– Players are listed by highest priority to low, not by position.
WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, GB (20.8% owned in ESPN leagues)
Marquez Valdes-Scantling has cemented himself as a pretty viable flex option going forward with a high ceiling as he ingratiates himself within the Green Bay offense and Aaron Rodgers. MVS has either scored or amassed 100 receiving yards in 4 straight contests. With Davante Adams deserving the added attention to his side, MVS could see plenty of one on one coverage and as he earns the trust of Rodgers, could blossom into a top 25 WR the rest of the way. Buy all shares in MVS.
RB Mike Davis, SEA (18.5%)
Mike Davis took the baton when Chris Carson left the game last week due to his nagging hip, and ran with it, totaling 62 yards on the ground and adding 7 catches. If Chris Carson is out for any stretch of time, Mike Davis becomes a must-add and a worthy low-end RB2/high-end flex play.
WR Tre’Quan Smith, NO (16.9%)
The target share is still in its infancy, but Tre’Quan Smith has scored in 3 games out his last 4 and should be owned in all leagues as a WR2 in the Saints’ vaunted offense. He may not get the target share but in the weeks coming with byes, he’s a viable flex play as he’s getting usage with regularity in the offense.
QB Baker Mayfield, CLE (38%)
Baker Mayfield hasn’t capitalized on the crazy good 4 game stretch (@ TB, @ PIT, KC) and that winds down now with a home date against the decimated Atlanta Falcons defense. For streaming purposes, you could do much worse than Mayfield. He’s a bottom end QB1 this week.
TE Jack Doyle, IND (40.5%)
If you’re in need of a tight end, Jack Doyle might be the last possible top 12 starter available on the waiver wire this season. Doyle came off of an injury right back into the thick of the Colts’ offense, putting up a 7-70-1 line in his return. Doyle is a must add.
RB Duke Johnson, CLE (49.6%)
Hue Jackson kept Duke Johnson’s usage inexplicably low while he was head coach, so now that Freddie Kitchens is running the offense, Johnson is cooking with gas now. Trying to make up for lost time, Johnson threw up a 9-78-2 line last week. We’re not going to see that every week, but it looks like Duke Johnson is back as a flex play for fantasy owners. If you gave up on him, now’s the time to put a claim in on him.
RB Elijah McGuire, NYJ (9.4%)
Elijah McGuire came off of IR for Week 9 and was given 10 touches (7 car., 3 rec.) for 67 yards in his return. He may not outright supplant Isaiah Crowell for snaps, but he should receive a good amount of snaps going forward for a team that should play from behind. McGuire is a speculative add in deeper leagues.
RB Ito Smith, ATL (31.7%)
Ito Smith had been lying in the weeds, ceding the Falcons’ rushing workload to Tevin Coleman, but last week, against a sneaky good Redskins run defense, Smith put down a 10-60-1 line, putting his name back into flex consideration. Whether he builds on this is another story, but certainly is worth a speculative add as the Falcons have always used multiple backs in their offense.
Good luck in your waiver claims and stay tuned for more rankings updates during the week as well as Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em later on in the week!
