Let us take a moment to appreciate the NFC North Champions. They said it couldn’t be done. They said Aaron Rodgers was past his prime. Never settle and expect more.

In back-to-back kitty weeks, Green Bay gets the Panthers at Lambeau. Carolina is coming off a surprisingly loss in Denver. Carolina and their first-year coach Matt Rhule have overperformed relative to the talent on their team and after a competitive run of games it looks like the Panthers are shutting down early. Last week Carolina allowed Drew Lock and the Denver Broncos to dice them up although they were missing star weapons DJ Moore and Christian McCaffrey. CMC figures to be out the rest of the way in an apparent attempt to conserve their young cornerstone otherwise known as tanking. As we know our beloved Green Bay Packers like to let the underdogs hang around which may linger into a closer than necessary game.

Matt LaFleur and the Packers offense is humming late in the season and secured the division. Next goal will be to secure the #1 seed as we explained last week is highly sought after compared to years past. With the potential for a playoff run at Lambeau, Green Bay will need to keep their mindset to play one game at a time until that reality is established. Next week’s matchup versus Tennessee and the workhorse Derrick Henry may creep in their minds although LaFleur appears to have created a culture that promotes focusing on the task at hand. I believe Green Bay needs to be tested if they’re going to make the Super Bowl run, we all are hoping for as this defense and special teams have given up leads to bottom feeder teams. Expect the Packers to be able to force their will offensively, as is tradition. There is a huge opportunity for the entire offense to feast against this Panthers defense although the standouts will be the usual suspects

Highs

Aaron Rodgers/Davante Adams

This duo can’t be stopped by even the leagues top defenders. It’s a decade of connection where each other knows how to get take advantage of a defense’s weak spots. Rodgers is chasing his 3rd MVP and gets a Panthers defense that gave up 4 passing TDS to Drew Lock last week. Green Bay has arguably a better offense with better RBs and an elite WR in Davante Adams. MVS and Lazard will find winnable situations as defense throw their best attempts at forcing Rodgers to distribute the ball elsewhere.  I need to offer credit where its due as MVS was able to make multiple catches last week that featured strong handed catches in zone breaker routes. As for QB1, he will need to take advantage of underneath throws and draw the defense down to create big shots. Panthers rank in the bottom half of the league in most statistical categories for QBs and they haven’t even faced the Boogeyman yet. If there is a strength to this defense its against WR, where they rank 15th in points allowed as well as in yards allowed. So the story lies they don’t give up many yards to the position although they’re tied for 7th most TDs allowed to the position. Rodgers goes off for his normal routine of kickass football with no interceptions and a shitload of TDS.

Rodgers throws for 325 Yards and 4 TDs

Adams has a modest day  by his standards with 6 Catches for 70 yards and a 1 TD

Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones had a casual week last week against a poor run defense as he only ran for 69 yards on 15 carries with no scores. Don’t expect that to be the case this week as the Panthers are also a dismal rush defense. They rank just ahead of Detroit in yards and TDs allowed to RBs while allowing a higher YPC average. Aaron Jones will be able to find additional opportunities for success against a Panthers defense that has allowed the 5th most receptions to RBs through 14 weeks. The backfield committee is keeping Aaron Jones fresh and some of his success could be poached by the energy boosts of Jamaal Williams.

Still think Aaron Jones is able to scamper for a solid performance with roughly 15 carries for 85 yards 1TD and 4 catches for additional 45 yards

Bobby Tonyan

Let’s be real, this guy is due for a lights out show. Bobby cannot stop scoring touchdowns and his showing himself to be a reliable target for QB1. He went for 5 catches for 36 yards and added a TD to stay in contention for the league lead with Travis Kelce. Carolina’s defense cannot contain the position, they’ve allowed the most catches to TEs and the 5th most yards. They’re in the bottom half for touchdowns allowed which should change come Saturday as they run into a man built for the endzone.

Bobby is a staple Saturday catching 5 passes for 70 yards and 2 TDs

Lows

None, MVS and Lazard should be involved enough to be relevant. Green Bay has a gift-wrapped present which obviously means they will struggle and we will all remain completely calm.

Outlook

Green Bay’s defense will be the only reason this game has potential for competition. Get a pass rush against Teddy Bridgewater who has the luxury of an array of weapons in Robby Anderson, DJ Moore, and Curtis Samuel if he plays. Mike Davis is filling in for CMC and has shown to be able to gash defenses up the center which has been the Packers weakness. Consider this a warmup for Derrick Henry and Mike Pettine has to figure out how to strengthen the center of the defense.

Green Bay holds on to win a points explosion 38-28
