The New York Giants have agreed to terms with Blake Martinez on a 3-year deal at $30 million.
This came as no surprise for two reasons: Martinez was asking too for too much money from the Packers, and the team had signed former Cleveland Brown Christian Kirskey just the day before.
Martinez had his rough spots, but he did everything that the Packers asked of him. He ended his time in Green Bay with 512 tackles, 10 sacks, and 3 interceptions.
Martinez played in 61 games since his rookie year and was a key component to the defense in 2019, as he played nearly every snap of the season.
With the inside linebacker role filled with Christian Kirksey, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brain Gutekunst make some more moves during this free agency period.
