No such thing a moral victory in the NFL although Sundays loss to Buffalo showed promise. Against one of the leagues best teams and rising stars, Green Bay played its game albeit shorthanded in key positions and not quite able to consistently sustain pressure.

Packers fans, now is the time to stay supportive and see the opportunities we face now as a blemished team. We’ve had multiple years of polished squads that falter at the first sign of adversity in the playoffs. Now we get to battle test all 53 players and the coaching staff.

Be supportive even when the wins aren’t there because you’re cheeseheads and can’t ignore how spoiled we have been. As miserable as they are to listen to, Bears & Lions fans have stuck by their teams in the darkest of times. We still have plenty of light left before the next era so don’t pack it up just yet. The fight in Buffalo showed signs this team is not dead.

Up next is a Detroit Lions team that recently traded one of their best young assets to the Vikings. Not sure Detroit even knows what they’re up to and yet they are a frisky team. The defense has been Detroit’s undoing as they rank in the bottom 3rd against QBs and RBs in points allowed to the position. Detroit has used fan favorite Jamaal Williams as their lead back while D’Andre Swift gradually comes back from injury. Swift and breakout receiver Amon Ra St. Brown are game changers even while banged up. Detroit is 1-6 and on the other side, Green Bay’s injuries are piling up on a team desperate for continuity to bust out of the offensive slump.

Green Bay knows the recipe to win is feature Aaron Jones. Commit to the run game and be able to beat a team and not just survive a struggle.

Outlook

Green Bay has no other choice but to start stringing together wins if they have any hopes of a postseason appearance. Feels premature to worry about those concerns in Week 9. During LaFleur’s tenure, Green Bay hasn’t lost 5 games in a season let alone halfway through. Don’t let Detroit hang around, run the ball and run it some more. Rodgers doesn’t have an impeccable record in Detroit either so cannot be overconfident despite Detroit’s shortcomings. Green Bay should be able to execute their run game at will and Lions hang around through halftime and quickly takes control in the second half.

Green Bay steadies the concerns and wins convincingly 34-20
